Gillette employs 28,700 people (source: Bloomberg, url's too long and I can't be bothered to shorten it). What travesties have they committed that would justify thinking that those 28,700 people should become unemployed?

I like that you express the mindset that companies should and do use their employees as bargaining chips to offset their incompetence.


Oh, I'm not saying that the mere existence of employees who depend on the company means that company must be protected against the fallout from any blunders they may commit or be immune to criticism. A good many CEO's could stand to act a little more responsibly when they've got so many fates in their hands, and made to take responsibility when they run a company under instead of giving themselves giant bonuses after laying everyone off, but that's another point. My point is that "28,700 people should lose their jobs because their CEO said something I don't like" is an absolutely terrible sentiment for anyone to hold.
