Break ups/divorces can really fuck with a person's head. I've seen it happen to a girl I dated who I recently got back in touch with. She used to be this charming, thoughtful person... but after talking about her recent ex and lamenting to me that "everyone breaks up with me, I've never broken up with anyone :'( " her bitterness and cynicism started to show through. Some people just don't have it in them to get by the pain of their past.
