Holy fuck if that Part 1, Part 2, etc nonsense is true. Gaming exploitation has reached a new level and people will support this shit because of nostalgia. Literally selling half a game for full price.

This is why I bowed out of owning a console after the 360. Video game companies aren't trying to make games for loyal customers anymore. They're trying to give as little as they can to fleece you for every dime they can get. Pre-order, day one dlc (I.E, shit that we removed from the completed game to charge you extra money to get back), microtransactions, etc etc etc.

And people just continue to let them do it. And they keep pushing the envelope. Have you noticed how many stories lately have gone like this?

"Game company announces game, game will have this controversial feature about it. Massive fan backlash against controversial feature, developer rolls back feature, gamers rejoice in their "victory", and buy game."

They're constantly trying to roll out controversial features. Because occasionally, one will slip through. Then the bar is moved, and it'll never go back. That thing that was controversial becomes the new normal. That's where we are with microtransactions and DLC now.

The problem is that the people who complain about it are a vocal minority online. Not that what they are doing shouldn't be criticized, but in their eyes, it doesn't matter, because the much larger, more casual/mainstream audience either does not know or care about their actions and will buy regardless.
