Because to Christians marriage is a practice created and ordained by God solely between a man and a woman. As such going "Actually no, Fuck God. Marriage is for other things too" there's no longer any floodgate or justification to block any type of marriage period. Gay marriage, animal marriage, polygamous marriage, marrying objects. Plenty of dudes have married wifu sex dolls. In the eyes of the religious, this is all the same thing because it's all not what God ordained. A metaphor: A vegan says "This meal has no meat. No meat whatsoever. The meal is meat free" And someone says "I WANT CHICKEN IN IT!" And so now it's a Chicken Vegan Meal. And the Vegan Society goes "This is outrageous, putting beef in our meal! That's not a Vegan meal anymore!" And you go "Well that's not beef it's chicken! What are you an idiot!?" To the Vegan society it's all the same thing, it's all wrong.
