Well given that the most prominent climate proposal right now, the green New Deal, is a giant flaming pile of shit, I imagine any reasonable proposal made from a perspective that doesn't involve throwing Society into the garbage to make it work would be considered "middle ground." Meanwhile the world gets thrown into the garbage because "middle ground" policies aren't effective enough. The world is being thrown into the garbage because of China and India. Most of the pollution in the world comes from them and the US really can't do much about it.
