That's totally results driven is the issue. You can't just say because the Mets are hitting that they are actually good offensively. They were just getting lucky with BABIP. The #s could tell you what they were doing was not sustainable, specifically because they hit too many groundballs. That is not a recipe for success in this day and age. Maybe for some players it is better, but with the smartness of shifting, and stronger defensive infields , you in general want to be hitting far less groundballs. But that is exactly Chili Davis's MO. And he will not adapt.

It's less so the Mets stopped hitting and moreso the numbers finally regressed to the mean of what was expected to happen given the approach they have taken (or been forced upon them).
