Chili Davis, the Mets hitting coach, has quite some brunt to bear I think.Guys like Ramos are overhitting groundballs , and guys like him should be trying to drive the ball/hit for launch angle, not trying to have groundball rates, since he's never going to beat out infield hits and has the power to hit the ball off the wall. But Chili is an old-school guy, unwilling to change his ways or adapt to the way the game is now. He is purely emphasized on contact, not launch angle. But this is being too applied to every mets hitter, seemingly regardless of their own strengths, or game situation. This kind of hitting style is not sustainable, its why the Mets offense looked good at first, but eventually just hitting a lot of groundballs is going to kill you, especially in this day and age with infield shifting. The game has changed from when Chili played and his failure to adapt is costly.

The Mets love hiring these old-school , non-data, unwilling to adapt guys though. So it's on them.

there are some smart bloggers in there who I like to follow with some good, somewhat varying opinions about how he has affected the team, and looking more too at the players themselves (most specifically Ramos) who has struggled this year.

He's a usually consistent year to year .260/.300/.450 kind of hitter- he comes very close to those numbers almost every year, but this year he is .236/.299/.292

How is his slugging so far down from every other year? I know it's early but this is enough of a sample size now to show something is up. It's because he has a hitting coach that is trying to get him to hit groundballs. And it's badly affecting him because he isn't that kind of player!
