It adds the bonus damage on after applying the opponent's defense and it doesn't need to cover for going into the negatives. At 115 defense, Alm is getting 28 points of bonus damage. After applying defense, Alm's damage goes to 0 then goes back up to 28 which is an OHKO on 27 HP. Alm's attack stat actually doesn't matter at all so even Lv1 Alm can do this with Luna Arc and no other skills. --- Link isn't the only one who kicks ass.
