The solution to the epitaph had been worked out by a few mad geniuses, and we were at least aware Shkanontrice was a viable explanation for the culprit. The mechanics for how it worked weren't as well established; that really requires Ep6. A lot of people were worried about some kind of multiple personality solution and rejected the correct answer out of hand as a result.
