3. Monster Hunter: World

The other game I spent about 250 hours playing! This is only the 2nd Monster Hunter I played through completely. I did it first on Tri on the Wii, but then could never get into any of the handheld iterations. The series returning to console though was able to rope me back in and I'm glad I did.

Monster Hunter is almost like a fighting game where each weapon type is almost its own game each as their own complete playstyle and moveset and that's how people can play these games for 1000s of hours no problem. Me personally I picked the Great Sword back in Tri and I've never looked back. I love to tank the big monster and get that one big on it that'll break off a piece or kill it, etc.

Surprisingly I ended up playing most of this game solo. All my friends I play games with said they were going to wait for the PC version while I got the PS4 version....then they never ended up getting the PC version anyway. One of the new quality of life improvements lets you summon anyone who's looking to help if you ever get in trouble so I utilized that to summon japanese ninjas to help out if I ever needed it and I had a grand old time.

As I progressed I eventually became the one helping other people and I just loved it. Hunting monsters is always fun, learning their patterns and figuring out the fastest and most efficient way to do it. By the end I was playing Fashion Hunter as well and ended up looking like Big Boss with a Mega Man cat by my side.
