Ive been a fan of the series going back to 1995 when they started showing original Dragon Ball on I think CBS on the weekends . Ive played a lot of Dragon Ball video games. Maybe almost all of them. Starting out with the weird NES games that I would barely call games to the Super Butodens, Legend of the Super Saiyan and Hyper Dimension on SNES to Ultimate Battle 22 and Dragon Ball GT on PSX to all the Bukodais and Raging Blasts and beyond. Most of them were barely passable with only a few I would classify as good (Advance Adventure, Attack of the Saiyans and Tenkaichi 2 come to mind). For it to take 3 decades for anyone to make a Dragon Ball game that is truly amazing is ridiculous. Arc System Works deserves all the praise for finally pulling it off. I stuck with online ranked mode in this game probably longer than I stuck with any other fighting game getting up to Supreme Kai or Demon rank around there before the skill level became too much for me. The story was kinda forgettable but Android 21 is rad as an original character and Im not even a big fan of the 3 on 3 style of fighting games, I would much prefer it being just 1 on 1.but this game just got it. They nailed the feeling of Dragon Ball perfectly and then once they started selling music that comes straight from the anime it was perfect. Im just sad that by the time the DLC characters had started coming out I was already finished with everything I wanted to do with the game and had essentially forgotten how to play well so I never really got to play with them a ton.
