segregation vs genocide

Hitler claimed his final goal was to deport the Jews to an island, which would be the former, but he did the latter. they are not super distinct from each other, and I would consider segregation in this sense to be a type of genocide

but he is not in the "fascist" box

jesus was very much a socialist, albeit of the anarcho-pacifistic variety, and shakespeare was very much a feminist, albeit not in the sense it's used today

socialism as an ideology was influenced heavily by Jesus' teachings, but it did not exist while he was alive.

similarly, feminism as an ideology did not exist until long after Shakespeare had died, so while he certainly critiqued sexist attitudes in society as he saw them, calling him a "feminist" because he did so is not really accurate

this is also the case with calling Pinochet and Mussolini "Trumpists"

the long-term game of populist ideologies is to build consensus among common folk - rather than politicians - towards a popular coalition in support of their views, even if their views do not reflect the present popular interests

but that is not the only requirement for an ideology to be Populist. it has to benefit the common folk. right wing ideologies do not
