You could say that hes the one making the claim that Im exaggerating and Im the one disputing it.
Except no, that would be the opposite of true.
If someone disputes a claim you're making, you can't go "Oh yeah? Well I dispute your disputation, so now burden of proof is on you! I'm rubber and you're glue, no take backsies!"

I don't even necessarily disagree with your initial premise, but "You can go look it up for yourself" is rarely a valid defense of any position. If you care enough to make an assertion to people who never asked for your opinion in the first place, you're generally expected to support and defend said assertion. Because you're essentially asking other people to care, and you don't really accomplish that by telling other people to do unnecessary homework.
