Topic | Unpopular opinion: Home Alone is extremely mediocre, at best. |

If a movie is a truly good movie, it stays a truly good movie. There's movies from the 50s and 60s that are some of my favorite movies ever made. A better argument would be that maybe it's a good slapstick movie, which is completely possible, but as I don't like slapstick as a genre, the whole genre feels mediocre to me, with only a handful of exceptions. And even if we go the "good for its time" route of thinking, I still don't really see it. I watched the original Halloween for the first time recently, and I felt it was a little lackluster, but I also recognized that the reason I felt it was luckluster was because I've seen so many modern horror movies that pull directly from Halloween, so Halloween doesn't feel new and revolutionary anymore, when at the time it very much was so. I don't really watch modern slapstick movies (can't even think of any off the top of my head), so the reason I don't enjoy it isn't because I've seen it done before due to other movies in the genre being heavily inspired by it. I don't enjoy it cause I just don't think it's a good movie. --- "She was like, 'Oh, did you see that firefighter? Hes so cute.' And I was like, Mom, I just got blown up." ... Copied to Clipboard! |
