I mean, trashing the displays was way over the line, but that employee doesn't deserve to live in a civilized society. Move to some bullshit state like Texas or Alabama if you want to live like that. Certainly freaking out and causing a scene is appropriate behavior in our society. The employee apologized, even though it seems like a natural error given this person's very masculine presentation. I think this person was deliberately looking for trouble.
