That's not how it works. Gaming computers can last for years and really the only thing that would even need to be replaced if you want to stay active in PC gaming is the graphics card.


To add to this:
1. New consoles are released every 5-7 years usually, so about the time you might have to upgrade your PC. (This isn't including mid-gen upgrades such as PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, New 3DS, etc.)
2. PC usually has better digital sales than console counterparts.
3. You don't pay for online on top of your internet connection on PC.
4. Due to steps 2 and 3, you will most likely save more money in the long run compared to consoles.

The only huge cost is the initial cost of building a PC. But even them that's not much more than consoles when there have been consoles that have launched at $500-600... <_<
