There's just always going to be people that love being wrong. I don't get how people can argue that Gremlins isn't a Christmas movie. Christmas movies don't have to be the same Rudolph and Frosty specials over and over again. They can overlap with other genres; very few movies in general are exclusively one genre with no overlap whatsoever.
