This quote gave me the idea to host such a contest, and so here we are. This is the Nominations phase, where you can nominate up to 10 (ten) matches that you would like to see in the running for the title of Greatest Match Ever. Note that I may increase the nomination limit as necessary, depending on interest. This contest will have 64 entrants, which will be determined at the end of the Nominations phase, on January 1st, 2019, at 12:00 AM PST. If there is a tie at that time in terms of total nominations among matches that are right on the cusp of making the bracket (for example, if 62 matches have 5+ nominations, then 8 more have only 4), the entrants from that tier will be determined by one or more vote-in polls as necessary. Nominations will also be used to determine seeding, with ties among matches that have enough nominations to definitively make the bracket broken for seeding purposes by myself. Nominations must be for matches in official sitewide GameFAQs Contests, comprised of the following list: - Character Battle I (2002) - Character Battle II (2003) - Best Game Ever (2004) - Character Battle III (2004) - Got Villains? (2005) - Character Battle IV (2005) - Best Series Ever (2006) - Character Battle V (2006) - Character Battle VI (2007) - Character Battle VII (2008) - Best Game Ever II (2009) - Character Battle VIII (2010) - Game of the Decade (2010) - Rivalry Rumble (2011) - Character Battle IX (2013) - Best Game Ever III (2015) - Best Year in Gaming (2017) - Character Battle X (2018) Bonus matches are allowed, including Link vs. Jay Solano. Also, there is no standardized format necessary for nominations - as long as each of your nominations is in a form where I can distinctly recognize which match you are nominating, they will count. Once the Nominations phase has ended and the 64 entrants have been determined, this contest will begin in earnest, using the time-tested NCAA format, but with multiple matches per day in the first three rounds. --- Hail the reigning Guru champ, Advokaiser!
