It's crazy how there are absolutely no emotional stakes to these shows.

I remember plenty of emotional stakes to Frieza and Cell, but I was like ten when I watched those.

It works well when you're a kid, but then when you're older you start to realize that it's impossible to ever give a fuck about anything that happens because 90% of the show is just people taking turns effortlessly stomping each other until the next powerup happens. There's almost never any sense of tension to make you wonder how the hero will overcome the villain, because you already know the answer: He'll get his ass kicked because the villain is miles out of his league, then his hair will change colour and he will win without effort.
