As somebody who didn't vote for Trudeau I've been pleasantly surprised with most of what he's done. For a lot of people it seems to be the opposite, but it feels like they're just buying into the right wing meme.

I'm not the biggest fan of Trudeau either, but nearly all of the outrage against him comes from fake news and sensational bullshit.

Trudeau is in full support of the pipeline. Construction has been halted due to red tape. I sympathize with the protesters on that alone, but pressing politicians isn't going to do much. The Conservatives would have had the same issue.

Our politicians don't dictate our oil prices. Alberta is too small to have that impact. All the blame for our current downturn should be pinned on the PC party that ruled for 40 years but allowed foreign oil companies to pillage our resources with minimal benefit to the province. There is zero reason for Alberta not to have a multi billion dollar savings fund from 40 years of prosperity.

Our only hope now isn't our dying oil industry, but diversifying our economy. But it's probably too late. If oil ever bounces back, we'd be insane not to invest the benefits in our future. Oil is not our future.
