Morally, sure. But supporting NATO allies is the strongest way to keep Russia in check.


Youre thinking in terms of unnecessary absolutism. There is room for shades of subtlety. The Turks want us to back off of helping the Kurds in Syria? Then they need to commit troops necessary. Its not as though they want Russia and Iran entrenched on their doorstep either. They don't want to? Then they have to deal with US support of the Kurds.

Trump lacks any such subtlety. Or any consistency. The day after announcing withdrawal from Syria he signed the Farm Bill which further entrenched the US in the Yemen conflict.
