Fuck, its not at all uncommon for them to beg outside a building next to a sign hanging in the window or posted on the lawn. Weve got more jobs than people here,and a lot of places are so desperate they will literally hire anyone. They make more money off of suckers and get more free shit when they stand on the corner than they would working, so why would they work? Its a perfect example of why socialism is dumb, and how you are only enabling self destrucive behavior by giving these fuckers free shit for no work. How many have untreated severe mental health issues? I really dont give a fuck how bad they chose to fuck their lives up, so thats gonna be a big fucking shrug from me. Because of all the clueless, ignorant things you've said about the world, that might just be the most idiotic. oh plenty are and plenty arent. i never used the word all for a reason. addiction is considered a mental health issue. is it self inflicted? sure as fuck is, and an overwhelming number of the homeless suffer from this self inflicted illness. if youre depressed over the fact that youve made shit of your life and let yourself start down that spiral thats self inflicted too. eating disorders? yep. you self inflicted that one too. can someone be born with a mental disorder? absolutely. my sister for example suffers from severe schizophrenia, and presents with from pretty horrific bouts of psychosis. we grew up lower class. any potders from denver can tell you that back in the 80s and 90s east colfax was a shit neighborhood. i grew up half a block away from what people used to refer to as whore alley. i stepped on empty vials when i walked to school every morning. guess what though? my sister is actually doing quite well for herself. she didnt get lucky. she didnt land some huge inheritance. she doesnt live off of public assistance. she just works hard. she does what is necessary to contain herself when she is having a particularly hard time, and she does what is necessary to sustain herself when she is feeling lucid. am i saying every person with schizophrenia or any other disorder is capable of the same? fuck no. there is a very VERY small minority of people out there who actually cannot get by on their own.
