Because there was mention in one of the old books of some legend of someone hyperspace jumping into a planet or something and blowing it the fuck up. It feels like a "life hack" to me more than anything. I think it's a cool moment that is just betrayed by the movie because the movie is very busy trying to break every Star Wars convention at once, so it becomes easy to pile on top of this moment as well because breaking convention starts to lose its luster when you do it too much. --- "It is too easy being monsters.
