Because when that child googles "how to make a bump stock," they end up on a watch list, making it easier to stop them before they do anything with said stock. Rather than just letting him buy one so that you actually know for sure that he owns one, you think is better to violate everyones privacy so that you can know that he maybe has one or knows how to possibly maybe make one. Its cool though. You shouldnt mind living in a nanny state so long as you have nothing to hide. Sort of like how you shouldnt mind having no free speech because you have nothing to say.
