As nice as it would be to see Cloud vs. Samus to settle some debates, bonus matches shouldn't just be extra matches for the sake of extra matches. That's why each of my choices, except for Link/Santa II, answers a discrete strength question among a symbolic grouping recognized beyond Board 8 - whether that's Round 1 losers, Noble Niners (with a whole contest built as a tribute to them, they've gained sitewide legitimacy as a concept), or non-Nintendo characters. --- Hail the reigning Guru champ, Advokaiser!
