Unfortunately, that also spurred me to look into BanG Dream S2 for the first time. Apparently they're switching over to full CGI (what why, S1 was normal except for the OP and it looked fine). Worse, it's CGI from the people who made ID-0, literally the worst anime I ever finished. Like, the only way I could rationalize ID-0 existing in a just world was as a warning for others to stay far, far away. Why is this happening.
