Um, hello? We were ruled by the Turks, and second-category citizens like all non-muslims until a mere 140 years ago.

And yet despite your Bulgarian heritage and nationalist ideology, you still insist on classifying yourself as part of European (see: white) culture. Its almost like you, a Bulgarianthat, if viewed on a geographic origin level as opposed to an ethnic or racial level, would be just as looked down upon as brown immigrants in the eyes of Eastern Europebenefit from lumping yourself in with other white people in a way that you know is not equally applied to non-white people.

Also, if youre gonna bring up the Turkish empire, then I have two further points. One, your victimhood ignores intersectionality, aka the fact that, for however oppressed your people claim to have been, historically, a lesser minority (lets use the Jews as an example because theyre typically the punching bag of majority groups) in the same circumstances wouldve faced far worse oppression as a result of that inherent bigotry found when a racial hierarchy is established.

And second, since you so kindly brought up Bulgarias historical oppression at the hands of the Turks, then your nationalist stance holds no water. 140 years is NOTHING in historical terms. Hell, the American Civil War ended longer ago than that and theres STILL a cultural divide between North and South Im this country. So youre gonna tell me that the Ottoman Turks ruled Bulgaria for nearly 400 years and yet Bulgaria is still pure and Christian without ANY cultural influence from the Turks? I call bullshit.
