"Edge of Tomorrow is the perfect blend of action, science fiction, and comedy. It just works as a perfect means of entertainment for me. I had very few doubts this would be my #1 coming into this project, and though a couple entries gave it a run for its money nothing could quite measure up to my expectations." ~Genny

"Time loop movies are literally my favorite type of sci-fi. Theres just so much fun in seeing the same scenarios over and over again and seeing how they change and become more elaborate as the film goes on. I think what really makes the film work though are the performances of Cruise and Blunt. At first, its fun seeing Cruise get his inexperienced ass handed to him over and over but eventually Cruise and Blunt form a very compelling relationship thanks to the full metal bitchs prior experience with time loops as well. The strong visuals and alien design also ensures the film lives on memory long after its done." ~Snake

"It feels super casual to rank one of the newest movies up at the top of my list, but cmonI loves me some time travel shenanigans. You all saw me during the anime list, and how I ranked Girl Who Leapt Through Time in the three spot (whichthis movie is one Ex Machina away from nailing the same positionwell see.) Time travel tends to be fun in movies, because theres so much you can do with it. But when you take time travel and you add a Groundhog Day twist of reliving the same day over and over again, it just makes the film THAT much more enjoyable to watch. I appreciate that the writers built Tom Cruise up as a total douche at the start of the movie, because watching him get his ass handed to him during the first half was pretty awesome. It also made his turn into a total badass THAT much more enjoyable. I just loved watching all the different scenarios. Cage runs the gauntlet on the beach; Cage trains with Rita; Cage and Rita go on a road trip; Cage and Rita try chatting up the general; Cage and Rita attack the Louvre with their ragtag squad. Its just a really fun movie all around, and its right up my alley." ~Inviso

"What It Is: A man dies after experiencing the worst day of his life, but then he loops back in time where he dies after experiencing the worst day of his life, but then he loops back in time where he dies after experiencing the worst day of his life, but then he loops back in time where he dies after experiencing the worst day of his life, but then he loops back in time where dies after experiencing the worst day of his life, but then he loops back in time where he dies after experiencing the worst day of his life, but then he loops back...

Why It Matters: While it's not entirely original, it was innovative and boasted a narrative that was very well-received critically. Edge of Tomorrow also comes in the midst of Tom Cruise's recent hotstreak of excellent films.
