The school district requires their teachers to watch their students to make sure they do not take any food out of the cafeteria. If they have any leftovers, they must throw it away. In the past, students were attending school malnourished because their parents encouraged them to smuggle their lunches home so that the family could eat it. Some family members even threatened and abused them if they failed to do so. The policy was put into place to stop that.
