Where I used to work you paid a 10 cent deposit on all cans. Got a lot of complaints about that. I've moved to other provinces where it's not like that.

The US is behind on recycling apparently. I was born in the 80s and I don't remember ever not paying a deposit. And now we even pay a non-refundable deposit of one or two cents per can on top of it. "Environmental". Pf.

I remember visiting my friend in Illinois and her family just threw their cans out. They said it wasn't worth the drive to recycle their empties. The depot was too far away and they weren't given refunds. Here it's a huge thing. Take the beer empties back to get some beer money.
