Topic	What'll it take for somebody to compete with Link?

Especially when nintendo turns out a "new" smash game every few years and a "new" mario kart. I mean at least their Pokemon games have new characters. Nintendo games are so successful because half the work is already done for them. They can focus on visuals and story because they don't need to put any effort into characters. Pure fighter games like Tekken or Mortal Kombat can't ever compete with Smash because the characters are already established. How many games do Mario and Link have? I'm sure I saw somewhere that Mario has over a 100 games linked to the franchise.
