#4: Fox

With vanilla smash, I was definitely on a huge Pokemon kick, so I went straight for Pikachu. When we hit Melee, Pikachu sucked and I knew within 10 minutes of playing him in the game I needed to find a new main because I could not deal with so much muscle memory change. So I went with the obvious for an attempted switch and picked the fox. Obviously, I like foxes, so it was kind of obvious. It had nothing to do with competitive play or anything, and at that point the internet was so young something like a tier list wasn't anything I'd think of. I played who I wanted to play. That Fox happened to arguably be the best in the game was just a really lucky coincidence. I actually ended up dropping Fox in Brawl not because I liked Lucario more, but because changes to Fox with relative fall speed made him feel really strange to me. You learn a character, the game changes, and suddenly playing them is just frustrating. So I moved on, but Fox is still a fox, hes still pretty cool, and definitely a character I'll turn to every now and then for fun.
