I think public consensus has settled into 4 > 5 > 3 (which is the opposite of how I'd rank them), although there's probably more people who have just played Persona 5 and nothing else in the series. Honestly, you can play them in any order you like, they all have distinct strengths and weaknesses despite having a similar frame. 4 Golden and 5 are probably the most welcoming, but you can't go wrong with 3: FES or 3 Portable.
