"I love this movie. Like, even going into this list, I knew that Aliens was going to stand up extremely well from the last time I saw it. And this time, I watched the extended edition for the first time (which gives more characterization to Ripley as a mother) and loved it even more. The movie is just a great action/horror film. You have Ripley dealing with a whole mess of psychological trauma from the death of her daughter and PTSD from dealing with the aliens. You have the colorful and memorable marines (I wish wed gotten a FEW more survivors of that opening massacre. Frost seemed like he couldve been an interesting addition to the cast. Drake too.) And you have Newt, who manages to pull off the acting job of a traumatized little girl EXTREMELY well. Watching Ripley grow from this shaken lunatic to a badass, fighting to protect her surrogate daughter is amazing, and really, the character growth over time is great across the board. That final scene with power suit vs. alien queen is iconic for a reason, and its the cherry on top of an amazing movie." ~Inviso

"Probably one of the best sequels in history, especially in terms of how I feel about the original movie. Without that movie's backstory I guess this one can't happen, so that could actually be the best thing I could have said about Alien. In this movie, the characters are actually characters that can stand up against the background noise of the film, and the chemistry is much more present here that in the first. Not only that, but as sequels tend to do it ups the enemy count and the enemy strength. There's something that actually feels overpowering and threatening to be found here. I enjoyed the characters of Hicks and Bishop much more than the supporting cast that was just along for the ride originally. " ~Charon

"Aliens is a better film than its predecessor in every conceivable way. Gone are the halfhearted elements of suspense, but the body horror is still present. This time instead of some grunt it's the queen bitch and she's actually intelligent which automatically makes her more threatening. It can't be overstated enough that Ripley's undying drive to protect Newt (the fuck kinda nickname is this?) makes her one of the most badass female protagonists to ever grace film. " ~Genny

"Indulging in action over horror this time around, James Cameron makes the rare sequel that changes the tone but doesnt lose any of the originals spirit or intent. In fact, the increased focus on action makes the film even more intense and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ridley has grown into even more capable badass this time, but she still shows vulnerabilty especially when it comes to the care of Newt. " ~Snake

"Aliens is like Alien, but a lot bigger, and not necssarily better? But still pretty damn excellent. It loses the claustrophobic horror of the first in place of big action sequences and a scary as hell final boss and a cute kid that is hilariously out of place with everyone and everything else, which all makes for a great film, even if it's a little under the original for me." ~Johnbobb

"Wait what the hell? Why is this movie so high for me? Oh right, because people were less incompetent than they were in movies below, and the action was not bad. Less bloody and all that noise. Plus the biggest annoyances were gone by the time this movie got late." ~Wickle
