This is a case of bad training, bad cop, bad communication not racism. There was a really good Reddit thread I read about this earlier. Some really good numbers as well. It was a study involving officer involved shootings with black people and the figure actually showed that white cops shot black people less than any other race. As well as some other good statistics, it was from yesterday I wish I could find it.

The days of the 80s racist LA white cops isnt a thing. Yeah theres bad eggs but its not the norm. Ive seen one get fired for constantly making age jokes about another cop. Majority of these sensationalized shootings fall under graham v Connor, or a good use of force model. I would bet my life 100 times this cop from lack of communication and training saw the dude holding a gun and immediately shot. In the day of bodycam I really find it hard to believe he just came in there with the intention of shooting a black person lol

I posted a similar study that used the Washington Post database (the best database there currently is). It found that overall white officers were no more likely to shoot dead black suspects than white suspects. It also found that black cops were just as likely as white cops to shoot dead unarmed black suspects (but some caution should be exercised here, as the sample size is very small). You wouldn't know any of that from the left wing media's fixation on the race of the cop involved in this case, or other cases like it.

It also cited a prior study that found that ER treatment differed dramatically by race, resulting in significantly higher rates of mortality among black trauma patients -- a variable not controlled for in any of the studies on officer-involved shootings I have read. Some of the racial disparity in police shooting deaths may simply be due to the quality of hospital treatment.
