While I was watching it I couldn't help but feel like it would work better as a series of novels, maybe graphic novels, and I refuse to research this, but if it's based on a series then one movie couldn't do it justice. It felt like 3 or 4 books crammed into a miserable 2 hour experience. Barely anything made sense, the special effects weren't very impressive, and Keifer Sutherland's line delivery was so distractingly awful that by the middle of the movie I wanted one of the vampire aliens to stick a syringe in his forehead and remove his memories of how to speak. YIKES! I think the worst aspect is that Dark City had the potential to be great with its unique concept and phenomenal world building (quite literally in some sense), but the way its confusing plot is poorly executed and its pacing is raced through killed any chance it had of being enjoyable to me." ~Genny --- "It is too easy being monsters.
