Crono is far stronger in Europe now than 10 years ago. MM has always been fodder over there. that's my thought too. also i might just be imagining this but europe seems to love its JRPGs on this site. which meant once we got chrono trigger we were pretty into it. Nah Europe loves Final Fantasy. But also DBZ.
