It's not about an adventure story where a group kills goblins in very imaginative ways it's about bringing back old fantasy goblins. The kind of old fantasy goblins that are known for destroying entire kingdoms through shear numbers. The kind that are far more dangerous and monstrous than most people realize. Believe it or not Goblin Slayer is nothing new but a return to form before goblins got watered down to the staple punching bag that we see in every fantasy story.
