No, believe it or not threatening someone and vandalizing their property is actually a crime, it has nothing to do with being a protected class and everything to do with having the right to feel safe in your own home.
I never said it wasn't a crime, but a "hate crime" is a specific classification.
Unless DC treats political based crime as a hate crime, I'm not sure. Usually those articles will state why they're treating something as a hate crime, that article was light on that part.
