It obviously is total garbage but after 15y we should be over it
To be honest there are definitely times I'm going to vote for the mute or Pokemon or mascot over the "deeper character". I'm voting Charizard over basically anyone in the bracket including deep characters from games I've actually played.
I think if you went through every possible combination of characters, even from games you've played, you will eventually come to a situation where you would vote for the inferior "character" in the poll. And once I realised this I kinda got over it.
This is different though I guess. I think another problem is GameFAQs' shallow love for character design and names. "Ellie" is a meaningless name and face compared to blue-haired KOS-MOS.
Ellie has tons more meaning compared to a bland cardboard cutout like Kosmos. What kind of name is Kosmos anyway. Who names their child that? No one has played Xenosaga, why do you think it goes on unrereleased?
KOS-MOS is an android. A robot. Her creators can name her whatever they damn please. ---
