I think so. Basically it used to be there then it all came crashing down and that was the great flood I guess

Still, we would have evidence of that water considering, well, it would have added to Earth's total water...

maybe there was more land mass originally with the sea level being lower? it would flood the land then slowly drain into the oceans so there would still be flooding for a while
