Racism, sexism, and homophobia are all still around, and extremely prevalent in most of western society, even though a lot of people to pretend they aren't. None of those are going anywhere any time soon, and trans people are likely to be the last minority group accepted by society as a whole, if at all.

It may some day be considered "normalized", but that day won't come in our lifetimes. Bigotry is a pretty stubborn idea. More likely, medical advancements will make sex changes completely flawless (as in, trans people could be rewritten down to the X/Y chromosomes) long before society gets over itself about the whole thing.


As I said we should fight to make the idea of being different acceptable. Bigotry may never die but it its still far more likely a battle to win. Just putting bigots in the vast minority would be victory enough for me.
