I'd say Megalo Box was my personal favorite, followed by How Not To Summon A Demon King because that was next to the most enjoyable ecchi anime I've watched in a very long time. 3rd might be Middle Manager Tonegawa for being the JP version of The Office. That one had the best episodes but it requires a lot of context and the first few eps are pretty confusing as to what their intent is.

Otherwise the rest is a bit of a blur for me. I quite like the latest Inazuma Eleven series for constantly bordering the lines between a children's show and having a character (the coach obviously) be a literal pimp. I also liked most of Darling in the Franxx though the pacing is bad and the story structure is too cookie cutter Trigger.

But of course my true number one is Joshiochi! because it truly makes you feel like a slutty actress literally falling on somebody's dick. It takes you across the emotional burden of being the guy that has everything falling on his lap. Also, why is this available so freely and not locked away in some hentai dungeon? For all those reasons this is my real number 1 baby.

Oh, but I guess as to why Megalo Box was my favorite, stylistically it was ahead of all the other animes this year. It went for that old style but never felt old. The story was very grounded with a cast of relateable characters on both sides of the feud that all go through big character developments. By the end of it, so much has been sacrificed, but you still feel very hopeful about what's to come for all of the characters. Even the scheming brother gets quite a bit of sympathy after basically using hax. It's sort of the way they pull this off, like the last punch between the match between him and Joe saying so much about each of the characters and the respect that they give to each other colliding in an explosive finish. It's a perfect blend of cool story telling, amazing style, and visual. There's nothing more you can ask of an anime. Also it's one of those rare animes that have a start and a finish in a single season. I just don't see that often enough anymore, especially in LN or manga adaptations where the purpose is to sell more LNs and mangas
