I think this is probably a hot take among Coheed fans, but in my opinion, if you take the Afterman albums as one singular project, it's their best work ever. The Number City/Gravity's Union one-two punch on Descension is a big part of that, so I'm stoked to see the former of those make it so high on the list. Afterman Descension is one of my favorite albums from them, probably #3 behind In Keeping Secrets and Good Apollo 1. Ascension I don't think is QUITE as good but I still love every album from them, even Year of the Black Rainbow which mostly suffers from its production. My top five is Good Apollo V1 > Ascension > IKS > Descension > NWFT, which is why I say if you combine the Aftermans (Aftermen?) they would shoot to the top. Ascension doesn't hit the highs Descension does (although Domino comes close), but I think it's a little more consistent which I tend to value more. For every Gravity's Union on Descension, there's an Iron Fist.
