At this point, what's left that hasn't been done?

It really bothers me how reductive and narrow-minded gamers can be.

Yes, what in the entire spectrum of gaming is left that hasn't been "done." I mean honestly, why are we still making games. It's all been done before has it not?

Has Elite Dangerous has written the final chapter on space sims? There's literally nothing that could be improved or expanded upon?

Sarcasm aside this attitude is garbage. I mean one game has built their systems from the ground up to be utilized from a FPS perspective and mindset, which at this scope and scale is still beyond impressive. Since it was announced to present day, there's no game that comes close to what Star Citizen offers. Elite Dangerous is a very poor mans version of that with basic mechanics. The most interesting thing that game did was how it introduced alien life forms.

A game like ED just makes me want a game like Star Citizen more. I want to be able to run around my ship, physically maneuver my character through the ship, see visual representations of every aspect of gameplay. Physically get into a turret, have different stations for all the systems of the ship. Load and unload actual cargo into the cargo bay. Take that ship to another planet or space station, get into a dog fight in space, land it, get out of it. Pull out my rifle and get into a firefight, hijack another person ship. All of it.

What's impressive about Start Citizen can't be summarized in a few words on a message board. I don't mean to sound so grandiose but honestly. Like I keep saying, all of what I just mentioned in my previous paragraph is things I've done in the alpha build of the game. They're building a sandbox, and their attention to detail is mind boggling honestly. The toys in that sandbox are beyond impressive, and when you start interacting with them the organic gameplay that flows is just limitless.
