TopicIs 4K going to become the standard for gaming?

I'd be betting on a 1440p next-gen standard. No console right now has been able to handle 4K properly and most people who aren't gamers, including most parents of children who would want consoles don't even have 4K TVs. Most 4K TVs are only purchased because they're not much more expensive than comparable 1080p TVs. I mean, we can't even get major cable companies to supply 4K signals yet.

Also, could they fit 4K, 60 FPS gaming into a $400 budget? People aren't going to be too keen on paying more than $400, maybe $500 for the next gen console anyway. I would imagine the 9th console generation would be pushing to stabilize frame rates at 60 at a slightly-higher resolution like 1440p or maybe 1800p if we're lucky. 1800p would still look nice and would be less cost-prohibitive.

I think for myself, just like some random guy on the internet I agree with 100%.
