there's a difference between bert/ernie and ruby/sapphire(steven universe) one's a hypothetical gay relationship stirred up by someone who doesn't even have any effect on the show anymore and the others a relationship that was clear from the get go

we haven't really seen much in-universe proof of that aside from stuff like them sharing a bed(which reminds me of the old school rumors of batman and robin being a gay couple)
