And this is how the dems gamble has already paid off in some ways. The guy has a long successful career on the bench and was highly regarded by his peers prior to his nomination, and now he's an "alleged rapist with a gambling problem". No matter how clean his past is, even if they don't find a single ounce of truth to the accusation, that will ALWAYS hang over his head now. Dems will forever call him the rapist gambler that republicans forced onto the bench, whether it's true or not. He's not nearly as bad as you would paint him, and the reason this whole conversation is even happening days before the vote is because Dems know that, too.
