If the dems gamble was pushing to stall the nomination confirmation until after the mid-terms, and they don't pick up enough seats(they won't), wouldn't Kavanaugh still be the person the senate votes for?

Yes, sonic is coming up with a really bizarre scenario

They don't want him at all. One way they can achieve that is by recovering enough seats to block a vote. The other way is to so thoroughly destroy his reputation that it is toxic to even consider him, say by calling him a rapist addict. Dems are perfectly capable of doing more than 1 thing at once.

Like, I know none of you are stupid, and this isn't exactly some sort of deep state conspiracy theory. It's extremely obvious what's being done here, and I have trouble believing that people like shock don't see it.

Oh boo. Democrats are trying to avoid picking a supreme court justice like the Republicans successfully did on Obama. I have no sympathy to give you if you think this is unfair.

That's fine. If the game is "by any means necessary" and we're done pretending either party wants to play fair then they should vote him in regardless of the accusations. Of course you'll then pretend that you wanted them to have standards and whine when it happens, because you want it both ways.
