Remember when the first game's story was just a clever excuse to run through Disney worlds beating up monsters with some light Final Fantasy sprinkles on top? And it was the funnest thing ever.

Then since KH2 it somehow became crying, melodrama, teenagers having existential crises, even loftier talk about the nature of life and darkness or whatever. And all the fighting and level design became secondary on top of what there was of it being nothing but "Press triangle for auto win" against every enemy. Because god forbid the gameplay get in the way of the trite story which has also become some of the most convoluted nonsense since Metal Gear.
